KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS BIO IN DLFIPLT20
Knight Riders is one of the franchise of the eight team taking part in the Indian Premier League. It was bought by Bollywood actor ShahRukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment in partnership with Juhi Chawla Mehta and her husband, Jai Mehta.
The Knight Riders had a good beginning to the season by winning their first two matches against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Deccan Chargers. Knight Riders' opening batsman Brendon McCullum scored 158 runs in the first match, which is a record for the highest runs ever scored by a batsman in a Twenty-20 match. However, the team started experiencing failures and lost consecutive four matches. The team managed to stage a comeback of sorts by winning next three matches based on strong performances by Sourav and Shoaib Akhtar. But their performance dipped again and lost next three matches, which included their match against Mumbai Indians, in which they were bowled out for 67 runs, the lowest score by a team in IPL. When their match against Delhi Daredevils was washed out due to rain, they lost any chance of making it to the semifinals. The Knight Riders ended their season on a winning note by defeating Kings XI Punjab on their home ground.
ROYAL CHALLERGERS BANGLOIE
The team qualified for the CLT20 but could not qualify for the knock-out stage. The team has undergone a sea-change in terms of personnel and support staff from Season 2008 with new coach Ray Jennings making a huge impact. Former captain Kevin Pietersen's participation is still debatable owing to an extended injury break. Their only buy at the 2010 auction was Englishman Eoin Morgan, but they also have in their ranks India's under-19 captain Ashok Menaria while Nathan Bracken has been bought out.
SHANEA WATSON FINDS HIS STAGE
Nagpur: Shane Watson is different. He has fought much harder than most for the honour of playing international cricket, battling his body for nearly a decade while he strived to stay in the reckoning. His is a passion that runs deep.
Every time the Australian was down and out with an injury, he turned to more net sessions, more running and more hard work. Throughout all the setbacks he kept on believing that there was a place for him in the international arena.
In recent times, Watson has spent more time working on his batting, gave up pumping iron and here he is now opening the batting for his country and boosting the Rajasthan Royals’ chances of a semi-final berth in IPL 2010.
